Proposal Letter: Live Music at Childbirth (projected from personalized form)

Proposal Letter: Live Music at Childbirth (projected from personalized form)

Presentation/General Justification: Music is one of the most tender languages of humanity and always accompanies human beings in the most important moments. In this context, we justify the practice of personalized music, structured under scientific and academic scrutiny, developed by the New University of Lisbon, after the laboratory of Music for Children. One of the main theorists, researchers and investigators who deal with the psychology of the leaning of childhood music language is Edwin Gordon, on whom we are based. Another reference, not only important but fundamental, joined with others, is the artistic and academic work of the Professor and Doctor Helena Rodrigues – Coordinator of the Music and Communication in Infancy Laboratory of the New University of Lisbon, where I am associated as a masters student in Education Sciences – Formation of Professors in the Musical Education of Basic Instruction in the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the New University of Lisbon.

Objective/Specific Justification (Generating Fact of Proposal): To promote the practice of live music during childbirth. So, as licensed Professor, pianist, regent coordinator of choirs composed of a thousand voices of infant-juvenile students from the Public Net of Recife and the idealizer of the practice of music inside of cemeteries, already for 17 (seventeen) consecutive uninterrupted years, reaching a public averaging more than 200 (two hundred) thousand living beneficiaries and an expressive public who have already been honored for their respective return to God.  (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=&feature=player_embedded).  As the philosopher Socrates affirmed, everything comes from God and returns to Him. For this reason we thought of the possibility of another innovation to amplify the quality of the process of receiving new lives coming to Planet Earth with music and musicality near the deliverer. It would make me immensely happy, if at birth, there was a family reception committee, love and art.

Methodology:

I – Musical composition personalized to fit the baby from the cadenced measuring of the baby’s heart by ultrasound tests.

II – Presentation of the proposal to the delivering mother and the attendant doctor.

III – Presentation of the proposal from the innovation and collection of differential and humanitarian to the Hospital and Health Plan.

Execution plan of quantum and soothing music with harmony: It should happen with a modular and flexible form to the vital process of birth, that is, of a flexible, sensitive 2
manner with readings and rereadings, attentive to the necessity of instantaneous adjustments, including silencing all fonts of noise, totally or partially. Nothing should happen with a hardened format, because life is always dynamic and fluid.

Module I – Religare: (calm music) – In this moment music will be produced with contemporary religious meaning, expressing the intention of joining the person/child to the Creator with light and simple sounds. These sounds will have the objective and restful effect from a muscular point of view. They should increase the production of neurotransmitters responsible for a good state of equilibrium of the dynamogenic system. The function of music in this simple and magic moment is to stimulate the processes of amplification of the naturalness of childbirth, comforting the mother and the team. In the sense of improving the quality already existent in the professional workings unfolding in the immediate surroundings, the music will imbue it with a comfortable configuration, increasing the quality of the pleasure of being, of existing, of producing, of reproducing, of sounding and resonating. Children who are born in this atmosphere will have the opportunity to expand their processes of symbolic refinement on a more ample archetypical grid.

Musical Module II – (music character) – Rereading of melodic structures, scientifically projected by Edwin Gordon for musical learning, interconnecting it with the elements of nature, such as earth, water, air and fire. At this moment, at childbirth, when the primitive brain takes control, all of the vital energetic movements begin to respond directly with the essence of nature in expansion. This silent dialogue with the essence of life, of birth, will be reinforced with musical sounds with the intention of awareness and gratitude, the entity vital breath. Earth and Water are represented in the body/uterus of the woman, just as Air and Fire, respectively, are present in the life of the deliverer and the offspring to be born. Fire represents, yet, our divine spark, a luminous particle that leaps from one incandescent grandiose body and fecundates us. The music of the second module will reference these concepts and indicators.

Modulo III – (music for the newly arrived) – Receptive specific to the Baby, saying: be welcome. This will be the moment to play the music made with exclusivity, of a personalized form for the Baby to be born from his sonorous (rhythmic, cadenced, melodic, harmonic) identified by the composer of quantum music. This composition will be the synthetic result of the contacts and previous studies, which identified the elementary frequent bands of light and sounds in an act of gratitude, life with a big “l”.

Obs.: If, by chance, some vital interruption of the birth flow should happen, the same music and intentions will be available for the birth or rebirth of the Baby to its origin.

Infrastructure:

1         Sterilized Master Piano

2         Group of chamber music pieces for an average of 6 musicians

3         One cameraman to register images that will serve as a self-copy/evaluation of the proposal

Results Expected:

1         Amplification of the quality of childbirth services, of the fetus being born.

2         Inauguration of a special form in the natural act of giving birth from the old               manner of deliverance.

3         To distribute in parts, divide or share goods and positive dividends with the Hospital will be the first to inaugurate the proposal, jointly with other sponsors who are sensitive with the proposal.

4         To make history and offer to the clients and to the new consumer market of the XXI century what they are looking for in the power of purchasing: The satisfaction of being different for the better and time and again making the act of living one special phenomenon.

- Edwin Gordon (b. 1927) is one of the most distinguished current investigators in the field of the Psychology and Pedagogy of Music. He has spent a considerable time of professional life developing and teaching the Theory of Musical Learning. His is not a new method of teaching music, but, rather, it is a theory concerning how people (namely children) learn music. The originality of the perspective of E. Gordon is precisely to ask oneself not about how music should be taught, but rather how it is learned; at which moment the child (or adult) is prepared to learn a determined competency and the sequence of its contents. According to the author music is learned in the same way as the maternal language.
